Study committee on sustainable models for long term care to meet

The study committee on sustainable models for long term care will hold their second meeting of the 2023 interim on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting is being conducted via electronic conference and in Room 414 of the State Capitol in Pierre, SD, to allow for both remote and in-person participation.

South Dakota rally, one of 50 state rallies being held to change unfair and discriminatory policy blocking access to FDA-approved treatments for people with earlystage Alzheimer’s - Alzheimer’s treatments are only FDA-approved treatments not covered by Medicare - June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month in June, the Alzheimer’s Association South Dakota is hosting the Rally for Access to Alzheimer’s Treatment in Fawick Park in Sioux Falls, on Sunday, June 11. The rally is one of 50 state rallies taking place this month, urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to change its policy, preventing those with earlystage Alzheimer’s from accessing FDA-approved treatments.

South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association 2023-2024 President George Johnson presented a check to Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of his trial lawyer colleague and friend, Terry Quinn. The SDTLA foundation grant was set up to help children. The award was presented on May 5, 2023, by George Johnson, surrounded by family and friends f the late Terry Quinn, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota.

Tyler Plumbtree hired as Gregory County Highway Superintendent

Tyler Plumbtree was appointed Gregory County highway superintendent on May 2. Having worked for the county highway department for two years and having previously served as an interim superintendent, Plumbtree knew what he was getting into. Everyone who ran for county commissioner had listed improving the county’s roads as one of their top priorities.
