Public meetings to comment on Platte-Winner Bridge project scheduled

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have signed the SD44 Platte-Winner Bridge Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) Evaluation document. With their approval, this document and its related supporting documentation have been made available for public review and comment. A formal comment period has been established for review of the documents and sharing of comments with the project team.

City council will work with legal system to rid town of nuisance properties

Mayor Al Cerny took a moment after the regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was called to order on Monday evening to congratulate the boys track team on their accomplishments at the state track meet, saying that they did a great job in winning the championship and that it’s nice to have the City of Gregory’s name out there.

Ribfest returns on Saturday

If you are anywhere near the Gregory city park on Saturday, June 10, be prepared to experience a strong craving for barbecued food. The Gregory/Dallas Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Ribfest barbecue cookoff that day, and that means the smell of brisket, ribs, and pork shoulder will be wafting through the air all day.

Gregory PD to host annual bike rodeo

Kids and bikes and summer - they just go together. And because they go together, June is a great time for the Gregory Police Department to hold their annual bike rodeo.

Ana Smiley is new Gregory/ Dallas Chamber director

Ana Smiley is the new director for the Gregory/Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Smiley’s association with the Chamber is probably known to most area residents. She has been serving as the interim director since February 20, 2023.

Sons of American Legion to hold regular meeting

The Sons of the American Legion will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, June 15, at the Legion Post in Gregory. The meeting will start a 8:00 p.m. and all members and potential members are encouraged to attend.

Local students named to USF spring 2023 dean’s list

The University of Sioux Falls announced more than 550 students who made the spring 2023 dean’s list. The following local students made the list: Bethany Swift from Burke. Swift is majoring in business administration.

SD humanities grant available for teachers and students

PK-12 teachers and students in South Dakota will have another opportunity to earn undergraduate or graduate credit hours this summer. South Dakota Humanities Council and Gregory County Historical Society are sponsoring a five-day field trip-style workshop which will delve into the history and culture of the Lakota people in South Dakota, including how white settlement impacted them then and now.
