Girls State candidates selected

Three Gregory High School girls have been selected to participate in this year’s Girls State; Mya Determan and Cindy Khuu will be sponsored by the Gregory Legion Auxiliary, and the Dallas Legion Auxiliary will sponsor Natalie Smith.

11th Annual Scavenger Journey continues to grow

The 11th Annual Scavengers Journey has been scheduled for June 23-25, 2023. When it first started years ago, there were only four towns which participated in this annual event: Chamberlain, Oacoma, Pukwana, and Kimball. It is a non-profit organization that began in 2012.

Gregory Economic Development to host third annual career fair

The Gregory Economic Development Group (GED) will host the third annual career fair Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Gregory Memorial Auditorium. Students from Gregory, Burke, and Colome will have an opportunity to visit with representatives from a variety of businesses and schools as they explore career options in or near their hometowns.

South Dakota to cut sales tax by $104M annually for four years

South Dakota’s Republican dominated Legislature passed a general sales tax cut of $104 million per year, lowering the taxes on groceries but not eliminating them entirely as Gov. Kristi Noem had urged.

22-year-old man dies in Gregory Co. fatal crash

A Gregory, SD, man has been identified as the person who died early Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of Gregory. Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was eastbound on 302nd Avenue, a half mile west of South Dakota Highway 251 (13 miles south of Gregory), when the vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled.
