Billie Sutton Leadership Institute announces 2025 class

The Billie Sutton Leadership Institute has launched its seventh year, announcing the 2025 class of Sutton Leaders and Rural POWER participants. Seventeen new members gathered this past weekend in Oacoma for a kickoff training seminar, marking the start of the year-long leadership development program.

Legion becomes home to new mural

A beautiful new mural now graces one of the walls of the Gregory American Legion Hutchison Post #6. The mural is a memorial commissioned by the family of Darrell L. Jones, who served in the U.S. Army National guard as a medic from 195665. Jones was also Commander of the Gregory American Legion 2000-2002 and 2004-2007, and for 20 years (1998-2017) Darrell and his wife Sandra managed the Legion. The mural, thoughtfully painted by artist Kate Witt, is rich in symbolism and not only honors Darrell’s service and contributions but also brings a vibrant and reflective space to the community, reminding all who see it of the values of duty, honor, and remembrance.

Gregory takes 86 entries to 5th-8th grade band contest in Winner

On Friday, May 9, 2025 the Gregory 5th-8th grade band students participated in the area instrumental solo music contest at Winner. Gregory had a total of 15 I+’s, 41 I’s, 18 I-‘s, 9 II+’s, and 3 II’s for a total of 86 entries Students prepared their solos over the last three months and had an opportunity to play for an audience and a judge to receive comments on how to improve as musicians and things they do well.
