School construction project completion looks iffy for start of school year

The status of the elementary school corridor reconstruction was on everyone’s mind as the Gregory School District Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2022.
Installation of new lights at football field completes school’s transition to LED

The installation of new LED lights at Mike Dacy Athletic Field was completed recently. The old lights suffered hail damage a couple years ago, and because parts and bulbs to repair them are no longer available, insurance covered the replacement cost for the upgrade.

Two GHS students qualify for South Dakota Senior Honor Choir

Eli Barreto and Jordan Spann have been selected to attend the South Dakota Senior Honor Choir on the campus of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion July 31-August 5. The week of rehearsals will culminate with a public concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5, in the Vermillion High School auditorium. Dr. Michael Culloton, Director of Choral Activities at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, will conduct the choir.
Gregory Co. 4-H held a cooking workshop called chaos in the kitchen

Gregory County 4-H held a cooking workshop called “Chaos in the Kitchen”. This workshop was held at the Burke Civic Center from 1- 3 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022. The youth learned how to cook an entire meal from the salad to the desert. They made a salad, spaghetti, cheesy garlic bread, and a cake. They youth all did a great job and they all had a lot of fun.
