Rachelle Norberg has been appointed as the new city attorney for the city of Gregory. Norberg is a Gregory County native, having grown up in Burke and graduating from Burke High School in 2011.

The Gregory City Council held a special meeting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025. The only business item on the agenda for the meeting was to con-vene in executive session to discuss hiring an applicant for the position of public works superintendent.

One of the major items the South Dakota State Legislature will hash out this session is the budget for 2026. In her budget address earlier this month, Governor Kristi Noem discussed what she would like to see reflected as priorities for 2026 and a few areas that could be cut to pay for them.

Sometime this month Gov. Kristi Noem will get her seal of approval from the U.S. Senate to become the nation’s next secretary of Homeland Security. That paves the way for Lt. Gov. Larry Rhoden to be the next governor of South Dakota.
