Steve Hayes, Dan DeSmet and Murray Thompson were elected to the Board of Directors at the October 3rd meeting of Fidelity Corporation, the sole shareholder of First Fidelity Bank. Steve Hayes currently serves as Senior Vice President and Branch Manager in Presho.

I recently presented my budget to the South Dakota State Legislature. It’s a budget that prioritizes people, not programs.

Commentary by Bill Bullard, CEO, R-CALF USA Go back just five years, to 2019. Remember what fed cattle prices were back then? The 5-Area steer price was $115 per cwt, which was the lowest annual steer price in eight years. Remember also, that in 2019 the volume in the fed cattle cash market had fallen to the lowest level in history, to less than 21%. And back then, during the first nine months of 2019, beef imports were 2.3 billion pounds.

From the very beginning, the rural school in South Dakota during the first half of the 1900’s served as a community center for the local area. The earliest schools were, in fact, the product of local community effort. It was the people who decided where to locate the school, how to build it, and selected a board of local citizens to manage it.

Funeral services to be held for Victoria Thomas Funeral services for Victoria Thomas, age 74, of Gregory, SD, will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., on Friday night at the church. Four students from two schools, juggling four schedules, managed to put together a presentation for FFA that earned them the top spot in the state and a place in the national competition in Indianapolis next fall.
