For forty--three years, the location of the seat of government was an important factor in the history of South Dakota. The time which was needed to determine the final location of the capital was perhaps longer than that required by any other state in the nation to find a home for their capital. When we were first part of the Dakota Territory and later s the State of South Dakota, the site of the capitol was a contentious subject. At times, it seemed to cause some of our citizens to demonstrate their worst possible behavior traits.

The regular meeting of the Gregory City Council was held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at City Hall. Engel receives more grant money for the library In department head reports, Librarian Tara Engel detailed some of the library’s events planned for January.

2021 is now in the books. The city experienced some surprises with weather and COVID-19, but came through the challenges very well.

The Gregory Gorillas hit the road for their third consecutive road game to start off the year and were dealt a 52-44 loss from North Central (NE). The Knights led the Gorillas wire to wire.

The Lady Gorillas junior varsity opened their season with a very exciting 1-point game with Platte-Geddes. The Lady Gorillas trailed 14-17 at halftime, but took the lead in the fourth quarter; however, Platte-Geddes pulled out a 31-30 victory.
