The earliest schools in Dakota Territory were small - whatever the earliest settlers could afford. The first students were taught by their parents at home. The first public school in Dakota Territory was in Bon Homme County, built in 1860. This 14 x 16 crude structure made of logs had nine students. Emma Bradford was their teacher.

It’s the biggest shopping day of the year, but it isn’t Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or December 26. It is the Elementary Christmas Gift Giveaway, held every year at Gregory Elementary School.

The Gregory School District Board of Education held a special meeting at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 16, in the high school conference room to meet with the District 21 legislators. Senator Erin Tobin started off by bringing up the governor’s budget address which makes more revenue available to school districts so they can increase teacher salaries.

The regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners was held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Gregory County courthouse. The minutes from the November 16 meeting were corrected to show that the easement for Dean Norberg was for a buried electrical line rather than a water line.

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers finished second in the triangular meet in Winner on Thursday, December 9, beating Wagner 52-29, but losing to Winner 25-49. Kade Braun was the lead-off wrestler at 170 pounds in the match-up with Wagner.
