A graveside service for Albert B. Ratermann will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the Butte Cemetery in Butte, NE. Clausen Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Al Ratermann was born to Lydia (Zimmerle) Ratermann in Butte, NE, on October 26, 1943. Al was raised on the family farm and graduated from Burke High School, Burke, SD, in 1960 and then enlisted in the Air Force after graduation. He made his home in Honolulu, HI, where he was a successful business owner who excelled as a contractor and took pride in all his work. He left an indelible mark on numerous projects throughout his community. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked with him.
As a loving husband, he was the rock and pillar of strength for his wife, with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
As a father, Al was a source of unwavering support and encouragement. He taught his daughters to be independent and how to think for themselves while always providing a safe harbor. He took immense pride in their achievements and was always there to celebrate their successes and provide solace during difficult times.
As we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, let us celebrate the joy he brought into our lives with his vitality and sense of humor. His presence was a source of comfort and joy during family gatherings and celebrations.
Al peacefully departed this world on July 25, 2023, at the age of 79 in Clearwater, FL, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Genaline Ratermann, his daughters Jennifer Ratermann, and Kareene Lamarche. He is also survived by his siblings Bernard Ratermann, Janet Marie Oliver, Mary (Bruce) Bornman, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia (Zimmerle) Ratermann, and his maternal grandmother, Emma Zimmerle.
