Funeral services for Celeste Marie Zephier, age 55, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Winner/Ideal Community Hall in Winner, SD, with Pastor Tonwaya Sherman officiating. Music was provided by Todd Bearshield. Lakota songs were sung by Jeslyn and Joslyn Felix. Larry Lon Crow, Jr., Michael Chasing Hawk ,Jr., Delane Lunderman, Brent Zephier, Gerald Zephier, Robert Fast Horse, Jr., Wayne Zephier, and Aaron Dog Soldier were casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Wilma Robertson, Byron and Brenda Andrews and family, Jack and Francis Brandis, Russell and Loretta Roubideaux, Deanne Rochelle and Jesse Felix, John and Adeline Fast Horse, Linda and Mary Spirit Track, Robert Fast Horse Sr., and the Avera dialysis staff.

Interment was at St. Mary’s Garden Cemetery in Wood, SD. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Celeste Marie Zephier was born to Caroline Roubideaux Zephier and Wilson DeNoyer on October 26, 1970, in Winner, SD, where she grew up and attended school.

Celeste later met Robert Fast Horse, Sr. and married him in October 1994, and to this union three children were born. Celeste and Robert resided in Mission where they raised their children.

Celeste enjoyed going to pow-wows and spending time with her family. After Celeste and Robert went their separate ways, Celeste moved to Gregory and met Tom Eagle Star and moved to Burke. After Tom passed away, Celeste moved to Bonesteel, SD, with her sister Violet. While living in Bonesteel, Celeste became ill. She resided at Violet’s until her passing.

Celeste took care of her grandson Gabriel and cherished every moment spent with him.

Celeste passed away February 24, 2026, in Burke, SD. Celeste is survived by her children—Ceslie, Robert, Jr., Amanda, and Justin; sisters—Violet, Madonna, Mary, Corrine, Becky, Denise and Clara; brother Wayne; and all of her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister Lori, brother Chris, and her special friend Tom.
