Dale Goodman

Funeral services for Dale Goodman, age 85, of Herrick, SD, were held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Burke, SD, with Reverend Thaniel Certa-Werner officiating. Music was provided by Twylah Ward, and Donna Whittmeier was in charge of registration. Casket bearers were Michael Roth, Mick Roth, Mark Roth, Matthew Holmberg, Matthew Collins, and Robert Polacek. Burial was in the Herrick Cemetery in Herrick, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dale Francis Goodman was born November 19, 1938 to Francis and Edna (Zeiner) Goodman. Dale grew up on the family farm south of Herrick, SD. He attended Goodman Country School through the eighth grade and attended one year in Naper, NE.

Dale worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the Army in 1957, serving until 1960. He then worked on a road construction crew. During this time he met Melvina Mulhair. They were married September 9, 1962, and later moved back to the family farm where he spent the rest of his life. To this union five children were born.

Dale enjoyed watching westerns, family gatherings, and playing cards. Dale passed away on January 30, 2024 at his home.

He is survived by his wife Melvina; children: Brenda (Eugene) Holmberg of Bristow, NE; Linda (Ralph) Roth of Butte, NE; and Dale Goodman of Winner, SD; grandchildren: Chrystal (Daniel) Bennett, Robin (Nick) Nielsen, Stephanie (Ryan) Clocker, Matthew (Guadalupe) Holmberg, Mike Roth, Melinda (Jordan) Anderson, Mick (Tessa) Roth, Mark (Sara) Roth, Melissa (Mark) Stoffel, Trisha (Matt) Goodman; 22 greatgrandchildren; sister Doris Moses; brother Vernon (Linda) Goodman; and sister-in-law Sally Ehnes.

Dale was preceded in death by parents; sons Ronnie and Daniel; inlaws William and Mabel Mulhair; brother Willis Goodman; and brothers- in-law David Moses and Richard Mulhair.
