Donna Johnson was born April 15, 1928, in Gregory, SD, the eldest child of the late Lyle and Gladys McCright. Donna enjoyed her family and extended relatives, which included her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who all live in the Southern California area, with the exception of a grandson who resides in Hawaii, along with numerous nephews and nieces and their families in various states, including her late brother Bob’s two children, Virginia (Ginny) in Minnesota and Robert (Rob) in Arizona. Donna lived a fulfilling life, having lived in South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, Oregon, and Southern California with her husband of 73 years, Bob (Robert D.) Johnson.
Donna enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends.
The last three years of her life were severely limiting for her quality of life due to the loss of her husband, contracting COVID, and a fall resulting in a broken femur, all within a short time. Her son Don was her constant companion and caregiver during this difficult time, allowing her the ability to stay in her home until her death.
Donna Johnson died on December 9, 2024, at her home of the past 26 years in Escondido, CA, at the age of 96.
Donna is survived by sons Tom (Marcia) Johnson of Eugene, OR, and Don Johnson of Escondido, CA, and son-in-law Bob Nelson of Escondido, CA.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Lyle and Gladys McCright, her husband Bob Johnson, daughter Linda Susan Nelson, and both of her brothers, Robert and Theodore McCright.
