Donna Haney

A prayer service for Donna Lee Haney, age 78, of Burke, South Dakota, was held at 7 p.m., Friday, May 15, at Clausen funeral Home in Burke. Casket bearers were Michael Haney, Patrick Haney, Danny Haney, Tevis Bartlett, Collin Bartlet, and Tavish Bartlett. Honorary casket bearers were Karlie Haney, Olivia Haney, Brody Spencer, Brigham Spencer, Rylan Hannahs, Mindie Spencer, and Katelyn Brockmann. Interment was at TJ Bartlett Memorial Cemetery in White River. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Donna was born on October 12, 1947, to Chet and Irene Bartlett. She graduated in White River, with the Class of 1964 and later attended Stewart Beauty School in Sioux Falls, where she pursued her passion for cosmetology. While working in a beauty shop in Winner, she met Jim Haney. The two were united in marriage on June 10, 1966, at the Methodist Church in Burke, and together shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

Donna was a gifted beautician and successful businesswoman. Over the years, she owned and operated beauty shops in Gregory, Burke, and in the family home, each featuring three styling chairs. She took great pride in her work and in helping others feel beautiful and cared for. One cherished memory was accompanying her mother to Rapid City for a hairstyling competition, where she won first place.

After the birth of their children, Donna and Jim moved to the farm, where they raised their family. Donna was a proud and loving mother to Michael, Patrick, and Danny.

Donna enjoyed traveling and embraced every opportunity to explore God’s creation. She traveled throughout most of the United States, with only Maine, Alaska, and Hawaii left unseen. Her journeys also included memorable trips to Germany and Palm Beach, Florida. In recent years Donna proudly served as president of the Women’s Club in Burke.

Above all, Donna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, gentle spirit, and the joy she brought to others. She lived her life with grace and gratitude, always seeing the good in people and trusting in God’s plan.

Family was Donna’s greatest joy. She deeply loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them.

Donna Lee Haney, 78, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jim Haney; sons Michael (Tammy) Haney of Naper, Nebraska, Patrick Haney of Burke., and Danny (Carla) Haney of Gregory; grandchildren Mindy (Joe) Spencer of O’Neill, Nebraska, Katelyn (Clint) Brockmann of O’Neill, Karlie Haney of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Olivia Haney of Brookings, South Dakota; three greatgrandchildren; brother Ted Bartlett; sister Robbyn Husslestin; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Irene Bartlett; brother Marne Bartlett; nephew TJ Bartlett; brother-in-law Lyle Haney; and sisters-in-law Mayda Bartlett and Norma Fernau.
