Ed Reiman was born on July 10, 1942, to Lawrence and Helen (Reiser) Reiman on the family farm located one and one-half miles east of Butte, NE. He was the youngest of five children. At the age of six, Ed moved with his parents, sister Darlene, and brother Jerome to the home place just east of Butte off Highway 12. The house was moved from Anoka, NE, and for the first time the family enjoyed having electricity.

Ed attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School through the eighth grade and then attended Butte High School with track being his favorite sport. He graduated with the class of 1960.

After high school, Ed began farming alongside his father. On October 19, 1964, he was inducted into the Army National Guard and completed his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He served honorably and was discharged in March of 1970.

On December 14, 1968, Ed married Catherine Liewer at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Butte, where he was a lifelong member. Together they made their home on the farm where Ed was raised. There, they raised their five children: Debra, Paula, Duane, Mark, and Steven.

Ed spent his entire life farming and ranching, and took pride in raising drug free Angus beef for market. He did custom corn shelling for several years and enjoyed working together with good neighbors Art and Ed Reiser. Some of his best times were going to the ranch along the Niobrara to check the cows, taking the kids on a picnic, fishing and swimming, and cutting that perfect Christmas tree. In later years, he was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought Ed great joy. They fondly remember riding in the truck with Grandpa to check the cows, going for rides in the combine or tractor, and simply sitting with him as he read them a story.

Ed Reiman died December 27, 2025, at the Niobrara Valley Hospital in Lynch, NE.

Ed is survived by his wife Cathy of 57 years; children, Debra (Troy) Hedlund of Sioux City, IA, Paula (Todd) Singbeil of Reed Point, MT, Duane (Laura) Reiman of Butte, Mark (Miranda) Reiman of Cozad, NE, and Steven Reiman of Butte; 14 grandchildren—Mitchell (Desi), Dana (Austin), Kortney (Kevin), Ann (Houston), Kali (Garrett), Tanner, John, Carson, Brooklyn, Cassidy, Mckenna, Nora, Laney, and Lila; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
