Gary Allan Reber was born in Fremont, NE, on August 23, 1965, to Carol Mumm and Gary Reber, Sr. He was the oldest of their children. From a young age, Gary was known for his strong work ethic. He began working for Painter’s in Springview and later graduated from Atkinson High School.

Gary eventually made his way to Gregory, SD. He was married to Toni Long for a time. In Gregory, he continued his love of farming while working at Biggins’. He always loved being on the road, and with the guidance of Glenn Cook, he joined Gregory Transport in 1993. Trucking became one of his greatest passions. In time, he built his own legacy by founding Reber Trucking Incorporated, something he was deeply proud of and known for throughout the community.

In 1996, Gary married Trisa, and together they welcomed their daughter, Kelsey. In the early 2000s, when Kelsey wished for siblings, the family welcomed two monkeys, Kami and Rico, who became a special and joyful part of Gary’s everyday life.

As time passed, Gary found a new passion in racing. He began with drag cars and quickly discovered a natural talent. That talent soon carried him into sprint car racing, where his radiant smile became a familiar sight as he held trophy after trophy.

In 2024, Gary married Pamela Boes, and together they shared his love for racing, especially their many trips to Knoxville, TN. Gary was an inspiration to many—dedicated, hardworking, loving, and endlessly proud of his family. Gary was blessed with two grandchildren, Grayson and Isla, who brought him immense pride, joy, and comfort throughout his life. His love for them was clear to everyone who knew him.

Following a six-month battle with cancer, Gary passed away on November 18, 2025, in Gregory, SD, at the age of 60.

Gary is survived by his wife, Pamela Boes Reber; his daughter, Kelsey (Christian) Rivera and their children Grayson and Isla; his monkeys Kami and Rico; his mother Carol Mumm; and his siblings Terry, Dean, Michelle, Johnel, and Jory; step-children Brody (Tessa) Boes and Blake (Shelby) Boes; and three step-grandchildren with another on the way.
