Kathy Rajewich

Funeral services for Kathy Rajewich were held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Marcus Ring officiating.

Music was provided by Melanie Hannahs, pianist. Casket bearers were Brian Gruhn, Sam Flakus, Alan Spaans, Steve Koenig, Randy Martin, and Paul Wald. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Gregory, SD. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Kathy Sue (Fischer) Rajewich was born the youngest of four children on May 10, 1955, in Gregory, SD, to Harry and Esther (Stellwag) Fischer. She was raised on a farm near Carlock, SD. As a young child, Kathy attended country school, finishing her education and graduating from Gregory High School in 1973.

Kathy was united in marriage to Kenneth Rajewich on June 9, 1973. To this union three children were born: Kimberly, Kevin, and Karli.

She worked for the Gregory School District for many years, starting at the elementary school and finishing as the secretary of the high school. In 1996, she began her career at First Fidelity Bank in Gregory, where she worked until present day. Kathy enjoyed her work at the bank and visiting with the customers.

Some of her favorite pastimes were watching the grandchildren play sports, traveling to the games, reading books, cars and car shows, and working in her community garden plot. She loved baking and holidays were her favorite time of year.

Kathy passed away at home on November 11, 2024, at the age of 69. She is survived by her husband Ken; three children: Kimberly (Steve) Koenig of Fairfax, SD, Kevin of Gregory, SD, and Karli (Alan) Spaans of Corsica, SD; three grandchildren: Alexis, Sydney, and Gage Spaans; and two sisters: Judy Evans and Janice Gruhn, both of Gregory, SD.

She is preceded in death by her brother Larry Fischer; mother Esther Shattuck; along with aunts, uncles and other family members.
