Kay Elizabeth Fischer, age 91, of Naper, Nebraska, died September 3, 2026, at the Parkside Manor Nursing Home in Stuart, Nebraska. Private services will be held. Clausen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kay was born March 27, 1935, in Gregory, South Dakota, to Eugene and Alice (Wood) Smith and was raised on her mother’s ranch near Burton, Nebraska. She graduated from Springview High School in 1952. In May of 1954, she was united in marriage to Orion Fischer, and to this union two sons, David and Tom, were born. She was a life long homemaker, farmer, and rancher on the family farm located northwest of Naper, Nebraska.
Kay’s passions were cooking, baking, quilting, refinishing furniture, gardening, and raising beautiful flowers. Her desserts were enjoyed and appreciated by many people. Kay enjoyed working in the hay fields, and was still raking hay at the age of 90. She also did bookkeeping for her brother-in-law’s feed yard in Ainsworth, Nebraska, for over 20 years.
Kay is survived by her two sons, David of Naper and Tom (Lisa) of Hickman, Nebraska; grandsons Matthew (Emma) and Jacob; greatgranddaughters Stella and Marlee; sister Mary Moody of Ainsworth; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Orion, her mother Alice, sister JoAnn, and brother Donald.
