Loris was born on April 21, 1972, in Winner, SD, to Louie Jr. and Lavina (Frey) Matucha. He was the youngest of four children. The family lived and farmed three miles north of Burke, where Loris and his own family also resided.

Loris attended school even though he felt it was a waste of time indoors, except for his senior year he was on the honor roll so he could have open campus. He graduated with the class of 1990. Loris could light up a room with his distinctive laugh that could be heard across the room.

Loris married Nikki (Shaffer) on September 4, 1993 and to this union five children were born: Bailee Jo, Brennan Lou, Santanya Liegh, Lahna Lin, and Kyrie Brenna Matucha.

Loris was a man of many gifts. You had a mechanical problem he could fix it, or rig it up for someone else to fix. Loris’ true passion was trucking. He was the owner and operator of Little Lou Trucking. He often invited the local kids on the shorter runs, hoping to tire them out - though it’s unclear why he thought that would work, given how much candy he always gave them. If he ever had a free moment you could catch him fishing with his buddies. He said he would take the girls just so he could legally have more poles in the water, because he knew his girls just wanted to go swimming.
