A Celebration of Life service was held at First Southern Baptist Church in Gregory, SD, on Friday May 31, 2024, where friends and family gathered together to honor Mary Ann’s memory.
She was born on August 7, 1930 in Gregory, SD, to Louis and Josie Pochop. Mary Ann was the sixth of eight children.
Mary Ann’s life was one filled with love for her family and dedication to her community. Growing up in Gregory SD, she cherished the values instilled in her by her parents which she carried throughout her life. After marrying, she moved to Rapid City, SD, before settling down in San Mateo, CA, where she made countless memories with those closest to her heart.
Throughout the years, Mary Ann found joy through being active in church activities such as Bible study and teaching Sunday school. Her unwavering faith shone brightly through everything that she did. For over four decades Mary Ann managed Talbot’s Toy Store where she touched the lives of countless families who frequented the store.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Mary Ann were captivated by her caring spirit, which radiated warmth wherever it went. Her kindness knew no bounds as she selflessly gave herself to others without hesitation or reservation.
Mary Ann Pochop, a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, passed away on February 2, 2024 in Greenville, SC.
She is survived by her three children: Marlene Lindsey, Dan Dunkak, and Tammy Arthur; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother Jim Pochop; and sisters Frances Hogrefe and Dorothy Uecker.
