Neil Schochenmaier

Funeral services for Neil Shochenmaier were held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church in Pierre, SD.

Burial was in Rosebud Cemetery at Bonesteel, SD. Isburg Funeral Home of Pierre, SD, was in charge of arrangements.

Neil was born to Aldrew and Marjorie (Jons) Schochenmaier. He grew up on a dairy farm in Bonesteel, SD, where he was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from Bonesteel-Fairfax High School in 1985, where he was active in high school sports and music, and then proceeded to graduate from SDSU in 1990 with a master's degree in Civil Engineering.

Neil married Pamela (Arkell) Schochenmaier; they made their home in Pierre, SD, and had three children: Luke, Adam, and Hannah. He worked for the South Dakota Department of Transportation as a road design supervisor.

Neil volunteered as a swim meet official. He also served as the council president, treasurer, and on the livestock committee for several years with 4-H. Along with being involvement in the community, he was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and served on various boards.

Neil Schochenmaier, age 56, of Pierre, SD, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, as the result of an automobile accident.

Neil is survived by his mother Marjorie; his children: Luke Schochenmaier, Adam Schochenmaier, and Hannah Schochenmaier; his lady friend Melissa Plath; brother Mike (Linda) Schochenmaier; sister Nancy (David) Bogenhagen; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Neil was preceded in death by his father Aldrew and his aunt Alvera Peterson.
