Robert Boes

A funeral service for Robert Boes was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Fairfax City Hall in Fairfax, SD, with Pastor Russ Grim, Pastor Mark Lewis, and Allen Faatz officiating.

Tammy Boes was in charge of registrations. Urn bearers were Nathan Boes, Cobe Simmons, Blake Wirtjes, and Micah Hanson. Honorary urn bearers were Ronnie Trautman, Rick Trautman, Bob Nesselroad, Tony Nesselroad, Erin Seiders, Eddie Seiders, Cody Johnson, Mike Trautman, Dominick DelVeccio, Ryan Shelden, Eddie Boes, Douglas Hermsen, and Grant Boes.

Inurnment was at Highland Cemetery in Fairfax, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Dean Boes was born May 27, 1947, at Booth Memorial Hospital in Omaha, NE, to Edward and Viola (Mayer) Boes. He was a twin and the oldest of four children.

Robert attended school in Bonesteel, graduating in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Trautman on February 12, 1966, in Bonesteel, SD, at the Lutheran Church. To this union, two children were born, Brenda Lee and Robert (Bob) Edward.

He went on to college in Springfield, SD, (USDS) and participated in drama and football while there. He graduated USDS in 1969. He practiced teaching in Parkston, SD, for six months prior to moving back to Bonesteel where he taught math and science.

Robert enjoyed football, fishing, golf, pheasant hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Robert Dean Boes died June 13, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, SD, at the age of 78 years.

Robert is survived by his wife Dorothy of 59 years; children Brenda (Troy) Shelden and Bob (Tammy) Boes; his twin sister Roberta (Dave) Sextro of Butte, NE; and his brothers LuVerne (Lillian) Boes of Virginia and Jerry (Debbie) Boes of Sioux Falls, SD; and many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-inlaw Larry Hermsen, and his in-laws.
