Susan Garry

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Bridgewater, SD. A celebration of life gathering was held from 1:30-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the SD Military Heritage Alliance in Sioux Falls. Kinzley Funeral Home of Salem was in charge of arrangements. Susan Garry was born December 21, 1951 in Gregory, SD to Russell Harry and Evelyn Helen (Hoffman) Garry. She grew up in Gregory and graduated from Gregory High School before going on to earn a bachelor’s degree from SDSU. After college, she began working for a bank in Madison, SD before transferring to US Bank, where she was employed for more than 20 years in Sioux Falls and Minneapolis.

Susan was a member of the Arnie Palmer Book Club, as well as many others.

Susan Garry, 72, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2024 at her home in Sioux Falls.

Susan is survived by her siblings: Gordon (Marsha) Garry of Cottage Grove, OR, Fr. Ron Garry of Ft. Pierre, SD, Byron Garry of Brookings, SD, and his children, Ben (Emma) and Zach Garry, Todd (Angie) Garry of Webster, SD, and their children, Russ (Lexi), Josh and Megan Garry, Colleen (Rob) Helms of Waseca, MN and their children, Theo, Joe and Sunnie Helms, Elaine (Doug) Block of Waubay, SD and their children, Heather, Mariah and Amber Block, and Jennifer Kay Garry (Christopher Lee) of Brandon and her children, Katie (Travis) Gaffer, Antonia (Will) Gibbs and Sam (Tarah) Block; and one great-nephew; and four great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell in August of 1988 and Evelyn in August of 2022 and a sister, Gail.
