A funeral service for Thomas Hurley was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Winner Methodist Church in Winner, SD. Burial followed in the Winner City Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Thomas Barry Hurley was born on August 2, 1973, in Ponca City, OK, to Billy Ray and Jeanette Sue. They lived in Oklahoma for his early years. In 1977 Barry and his mother moved to Morrison, OK, where Sue was a teacher and Barry attended kindergarten. In 1979 Sue married Roger Robbins, and the family lived in rural South Dakota. Barry attended Hamill Country School, where he discovered one of his loves, basketball. He played for the Hamill Pirates all through grade school, and when he reached the eighth grade he transferred to Winner where he continued to play basketball, graduating in 1991.

After graduation, he attended college for a year in Rapid City. He then moved to OK, near his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. In 2004 he married Gina Bartolli, and to this union was one son, Bo Jack.

In 2011, Barry moved back to South Dakota with his son Bo. They lived in Winner until Barry married Katie Faldalen, at which time they moved to Witten and ran the BareKat Lodge. Brooks Dean came into the family in October 2014. Tragedy struck in February 2018 when Brooks was killed from a gun accident.

Barry and Bo lived in Witten until Bo’s senior year, when they moved back to Winner. Barry loved sports and being outdoors. He and his buddy Ben loved to go fishing together. He cheered on his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and of course, the Oklahoma Sooners teams.

Barry Hurley, 51, of Winner, SD, passed away at his home in Winner, SD, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Pat Clifford, Bo and Trudy Hurley, and his son Brooks Dean Hurley.

Barry leaves behind his son Bo Jack; parents Bill and Emma Hurley, and Roger and Sue Robbins; brothers: Brad and Brian Hurley, TJ and Royce Robbins; sister Lisa Robbins; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
