Donald Cahoy

Celebration of Life services for Donald Paul Cahoy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at The Hamilton Club in Omaha, NE. Donald was born on March 22, 1935, in Omaha, NE, the son of Arthur Paul and Esther Ann Cahoy. Donald spent his early years growing up in Gregory, SD, moving to Omaha when he was 17. Donald graduated with a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, served four years in the United States Marine Corp, and was a Korean War Veteran. He was married to Ann Rosalie Surette on May 19, 1978, in Denver, CO, and after a forty year career as an accountant, retired in Kingman, AZ in 1997 to enjoy the sunshine, relaxed living, and playing golf, his lifetime passion. Donald cherished his full life, family and many friends. He always said, “he did not miss much.”

Vera Hauf

A memorial service for Vera Hauf was held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gregory, SD, with Pastor Don Windsperger officiating. Inurnment will be in the Colome City Cemetery in Colome, SD, at a later date. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Vera Mae (Condon) Hauf was born in Winner, SD, on January 10, 1937, to Harold and Emma (Goodman) Condon. She was joined by two brothers, Donald and Monte. Vera went to country school through the eighth grade and was a graduate of Colome High School Class of 1955. A woman of immense strength and character, Vera was known for her hard work, her love of family, and her cooking. She worked for many years as the cook for the Colome School District, where her homemade meals became a local legend. Students and faculty alike looked forward to the comfort of Vera’s kitchen, knowing they were in for a treat every time they saw “soup” on the menu.

Mary Donovan

A funeral mass for Mary Donovan was held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Isidore Catholic Church in Colome, SD, with Father Zane Pekron, celebrant. Lector was Todd Shippy, altar server was Aiden Schroeder, and Carol King was in charge of registration. Music was provided by Cindy Sealey, organist. Casket bearers were Glenn Sealey, Ferman Harter, Casey Harter, Ray Neyens, Craig Stenson, and Dave Duffy. Interment was in the Colome City Cemetery in Colome, SD. Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Kathy Rajewich were held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Marcus Ring officiating.

Funeral services for Evelyn Sundquist were held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Gregory, SD, with Reverend Thaniel Certa-Werner officiating.

Verla Bruns

Funeral services for Verla Bruns were held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gregory, SD with Pastor Marcus Ring officiating. Music was provided by Melanie Hannahs, organist, and Charlene Gill and Velma Harmacek were in charge of registration. Flower attendants were Melissa Wessel, Rhonda Weidner, Rebecca Wittmeier, Jennifer Combs, Aliza Wonnenberg, and Alisa Schmitz. Casket bearers were Jamie Sachtjen, Nicholas Cookston, David Bruns, Jonah Sachtjen, Andrew Cookston, Ryan McFayden, Jason Sachtjen, Richard Bruns, and Christopher McFayden. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery in Gregory, SD. Clausen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Janyce Adams

Janyce Adams was born in Burke, SD, on July 5, 1938, to Elmer and Alice Wendell. Janyce was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and devotion to family.

Linda Lampman

Funeral services for Linda Lampman were held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax, SD, with Pastor Clark Gies officiating. Music was provided by Ona Ebsen, organist. Casket bearers were Troy Johnson, Tex Langdeaux, Jay Anderson, Shaun Bush, Gary Sherman, and Steve Schramn. Honorary casket bearers were the American Legion Auxiliary. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Fairfax, SD. Linda Marie Lampman was born February 24, 1950 at Fairfax, SD, to Clifford and Rosie (Janousek) Bush. Linda was raised and received her education in Fairfax, SD. She was united in marriage to Edward Remter on October 26, 1968, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spencer, NE. To this union three children were born: Dale, Julie and Staci.

Marlene Rickey

Memorial services for Marlene Rickey were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home, in Portage, WI, with Rev. Scott Schultz officiating. Inurnment was private. Pflanz Mendrala Funeral Home in Potage, WI, was in charge of arrangements. Marlene June Rickey, age 79, of Portage, WI, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Hamilton Park Place. Marlene was born on June 20, 1945, in Gregory, SD, the daughter of Leonhart and Dorothy (Story) Kahler. She is survived by her children, Michael Rickey, Kelly D. (Kristi) Rickey and Brian (Carrie Kroetz) Rickey; two grandchildren, Austin K. Rickey and Hannah L. Rickey (Omar Guevara); her great-grandson, Omar Guevara, II; her brothers and sisters; other relatives and many close friends.
