Despite wintery conditions tots on up to teenagers came to the Gregory School Gym Sunday, March 14, to showcase their gymnastics skills. Parents and grandparents came to cheer their gymnasts on as students proudly displayed their skills on beam, bars and floor. The youngest group are 2-3 yr. olds who are encouraged through activities with their parents by their side. “We had great help at the showcase from our older advanced students by directing the little ones through the stations and keeping everything moving. Some of Gregory’s cheer and dance members also helped with some of the classes leading up to the sShowcase on Sunday,” said Hansen.

Amy Berg and Jenny Hansen have been coaching gymnastics together at Get Fit With Jenny for the past couple summers at the school and have now expanded with a winter and spring session at the newly renovated studio. Students from Gregory, Burke, Winner, Platte, Naper, NE, Bonesteel, Butte, NE, and surrounding areas have all come to participate in the program. There are about 80 students throughout the week and the interest seems to be growing in the area. They are currently putting a performance team together with the advanced students to showcase their skills at different community events this summer. This gives the students a goal to work towards and promotes confidence and self esteem. Another session will begin March 22 through April 15 and a six-week session this summer beginning at the end of May. They appreciated the Gregory School for letting them use their mats, Gregory Athletics Club for purchasing the back handspring mat for the cheer program and community donations to purchase the air track which they use everyday.
