Early lead for Tyndall Teeners seals fate for Gregory Teeners

The Gregory Teeners watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to the Tyndall Teeners in the 16B Region baseball tournament in Platte on Monday, July 26. Tyndall scored on a groundout by Logan Winckler in the first inning, a stolen base by Wesley Kaul in the second inning, a stolen base by Caden Hines in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly by Winckler in the second inning.

Storm ekes out four hits, not enough to best Plankinton Bankers

Pony Hills South Central Storm out-hit the Plankinton Bankers four to three, but it wasn’t enough in a 5-2 loss in the league championship game on Thursday, July 29. The Bankers got things started in the second inning when Josh Engquist singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Pierce Stukel qualifies in three events for state finals to be held in Ft. Pierre on August 13-15

The South Dakota State Champion flag racer in 2020, Pierce Stukel is well on his way to even bigger and better things in 2021. Competing in the Clark Rodeo over the weekend, he won breakaway, got second in goat tying, and ended up as reserve all around on Saturday, July 24. On Sunday he won goat tying, got second in breakaway, and won flag racing, giving him the all-around. He has already qualified in all three of his events this year for the state finals, which will be held in Ft. Pierre August 13-15.

Late score costs Gregory County Legion in loss to Platte/Geddes

Friday evening’s game against Platte/Geddes in the American Legion regional baseball tournament was a heartbreaker for Gregory County Legion, as they lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat. The game was tied at seven with Platte/Geddes batting in the top of the seventh when Landon Schulte doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Gregory County Legion knocked in nine runs in the second on its way to a 12-2 victory over Belle Fourche in their second game in the American Legion baseball regional tournament on Thursday, July 22. Gregory County got on the board in the first inning when Rylan Peck singled, driving in Sawyer Tietgen.

Six RBI day for Peck seals Legion victory

Rylan Peck showed timely hitting in the first game of the American Legion regional tournament at noon on Thursday, July 22, driving in six on three hits to lead Gregory County past Bennett County 22-4. Peck drove in runs on a single in the first, a walk in the first and two doubles in the third.

Gregory Teeners claim lead in eighth inning to defeat Tabor Teeners

Gregory Teeners took the lead late and defeated Tabor Teeners 4-3 on Monday, July 19. The game was tied at three with Gregory batting in the top of the eighth when Gunnar Stephens singled on the first pitch of the atbat, scoring one run.
