South Central Storm grabs lead in sixth inning to defeat Kimball White Lake

Central Storm took the lead late and defeated Kimball White Lake 10-8 on Sunday, July 25, to punch their ticket to the state tournament and move on to the Pony Hills league championship game. The game was tied at five with the Storm batting in the top of the sixth when Christian Schweigert singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Pony Hills South Central Storm claims lead in eighth inning to defeat Gold Sox

South Central Storm snatched the lead late in the game in a 10-6 victory over the Gold Sox on Saturday, July 24, in the postseason league tournament. The game was tied at six with the Storm batting in the bottom of the eighth when Blake Boes homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Gregory Junior Teeners fall to Mount Vernon/Plankinton

Gregory Junior Teeners lost the lead late in a 4-2 defeat to MVP in a morning game on Thursday, July 15. The game was tied at two with MVP batting in the top of the fifth when Jim Choc singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Science of flight and bubble festival were a hit

Gregory County 4-H held a Science of Flight workshop that was put on by the South Dakota Discovery Center on July 8th where the youth learned about how planes and jets are able to fly. They learned about the science behind thrust, drag, lift and weight and how these four forces of flight can make things fly. Next, the SD Discovery Center led a workshop called “Bubble Festival” where the youth learned about what a bubble is made of and how a bubble is formed. The youth used different tools to create bubbles of all sizes. They learned how to create big bubbles, tiny bubbles and even how to put a bubble inside of another bubble.
