XC runners hit the trails in Gregory, SF, and Scotland

The Gregory cross country runners have been putting on a lot of miles over the past week, first at home last Tuesday, then Sioux Falls on Saturday, and Scotland on Monday. “The team has been very busy, and the runners have been working hard both in practices and in meets,” Coach Lonnie Klundt commented.

A media report suggests there’s been a call by the beef industry to reopen the Mexican border to live cattle imports. That report was made about the same time as the Aug. 27 report by Reuters that Mexico had a 53% increase in New World screwworm cases since July. The Reuters report stated there were 5,086 cases of the pest in Mexico, including 649 active cases.

The Gregory Spikers battled through five hard-fought sets to defeat the Lyman Lady Red Raiders in a thrilling matchup Thursday, September 4, 2025. The offense was led by Regan Graesser, who tallied an impressive 4 kills, while Dani VanDer-Werff added 13 kills to the scoreboard.

Cheer and dance team gets a taste of elite competition

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the Gregory cheer and dance team took their pom and hip-hop routines to Mitchell’s AA and A schools combined competition. The coaches and girls took the score sheets from the competition in Gregory and added difficulty to pom and adjusted hip-hop a little throughout the week. Their work paid off as the scores and comments from the judges’ sheets were very informative.

Injuries, penalties plague Gorillas in loss to P-G

The Gregory Gorillas were first on the board in Friday’s loss to Platte-Geddes in Platte. Landon Keiser put six points on the Gregory side with a 13-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that came after a hard-fought defensive battle in the scoreless first quarter.
