The Gorillas found themselves in a hole early as the Cardinals jumped out to a 9-0 lead but after a timeout, the Gorillas settled down a little but still trailed 15-9 after one quarter. Baskets were hard to come by in the second quarter for both squads and the Gorillas trailed 24-14 at the half. “St. Mary’s hit a couple of threes early but we were able to string some stops together on the defensive end in the middle eight minutes of the half, we just didn’t capitalize on the offensive end.” The Gorillas struggled again offensively in the third quarter and the Cardinals outscored the Gorillas 17-6 in the third quarter to take a 41-20 lead after three quarters. The fourth quarter was much of the same as Gregory was outscored 16-2 in the final quarter. “I was happy with our effort throughout the game. There are always things to work on and we will continue to evaluate and look for ways to improve.” Gregory was led by Lincoln Juracek with 10 points and Colt Keiser with 7 points. Gregory will travel to Chamberlain on Tuesday and North Central (NE) on Saturday.
