Gregory boys win first ever team title at state track

With a team of only nine and plagued by sickness and injuries, the Gregory boys track team proved what can be accomplished when each member puts the team before self and finds something within themselves that they didn’t know they had.

Gregory girls compete at state track

Six members of the Gregory girls track team competed at the state meet Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27, at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls. Asia VanDerWerff ran her personal best in the prelims of the 400m, and headed into the finals in 5th place.

Gregory boys poised to win 2nd consecutive team golf title

With all four of Gregory’s golfers placing in the top ten at the Region 4B boys golf tournament, the team handily won the region title. Their score of 230 topped the field, with Hanson coming in a distant second with 247. The competition for second was tight between Hanson, Platte-Geddes, and Ethan with only three points separating the three teams. Bon Homme rounded out the top five with a team score of 267.

Club baseball team ends season with 8-3 record

Gregory County 11 St. Thomas More 3 Gunnar Stephens showed timely hitting on Monday, May 22, in Platte in the first game of post-season play, driving in four on three hits to lead the Gregory County club baseball team past the St.

Visiting writers event coming to the area

An afternoon packed with poetry and stories will top off alumni weekend in Keya Paha County. The event is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28, at Internal Design, located at 138 S. Main Street in Springview, Nebraska. It features some of Nebraska’s finest writers—a rare opportunity to see them all together. An optional writing workshop will follow for those who’d like to start working with their own stories. The event is free, and the public is invited.

Gregory County club baseball winds down regular season

The Gregory County club baseball team claimed an 11-3 victory Tuesday, May 16, despite a big push by the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers in the fourth inning. The Golddigger’s offense in the inning was led by Wichterman, Bloedel, and Janke, all driving in runs in the inning.

Gregory Elementary holds Track and Field event

The Gregory Elementary had their Track and Field Day on May 17, 2023. The morning was packed with track and field events. After lunch, the students had some fun relay contests with one another. Some of these relays included tugof- war, 3-legged race, gunny sack race, balloon pop relay, cracker race, box race and the gallon of water race. It turned out to be a nice day with tons of fun.

Gregory golfers perform well at Bon Homme tournament

With members placing in second, fourth, and ninth, the Gregory High School men’s golf team won the Bon Homme Golf Tournament team championship on Friday, May 12, at the Springfield Golf Course. Eli Fogel finished the first nine holes leading by one; teammate Kade Stukel trailed him by two.
