The Gregory Gorillas defeated the Avon Pirates on Thursday evening by a score of 52-28. The Gorillas were in control after getting out to a big 40-14 halftime lead.

Storm ties for first; Hansen named outstanding wrestler

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers represented South Dakota well at the Ainsworth Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 29, finishing in a tie for first place with Valentine. With 190.5 points each, both teams were well ahead of third place Central City at 141 points and Sidney, which came in fourth with 121 points. Winside rounded out the top five with 87.5 points.

Gregory 53 Platte-Geddes 56 The Gregory Gorillas had a busy week last week with three games. On Monday, January 17, 2022, the Gorillas traveled to Platte to face the #5 ranked Black Panthers.

Storm wrestlers finish in top three at Winner Tournament

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers were able to nudge out Bon Homme/Scotland by five points to finish in the top three with 162 at the Winner Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 22. Winner blew away the competition with 229 points to claim the tournament championship, and Custer came in second with a respectable 203.

Grapplers place ten to take second at West Holt

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers traveled to Atkinson, NE, on Friday, January 14, to compete in the West Holt Invitational. Even with several of the varsity wrestlers out, the team only missed first place by 12 points to O’Neill, 201 to 189, well ahead of the rest of the pack, with Summerland coming in third with 120 points, Plainview fourth with 108, and Neligh-Oakdale fifth with 98 out of 13 teams.

Cagers claim victory over Wagner, Burke

The Gregory Gorillas held off Wagner on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, to earn a 56-55 victory over the Red Raiders. Hot shooting from behind the arc propelled the Gorillas to a 22-18 first quarter lead, and a 36-33 at the halfway mark.
