Gregory cross country runs at Platte Invite

The Gregory cross country team participated in the Platte - Geddes Invite on Satruday, September 25th. The varsity girls started off the day with a 2nd place team finish. Hanson out distanced the Gorillas by 5 points, as Hanson scored 16 points, Gregory 21, Platte Geddes 31, to round out the top three. Individually, Emma Thomas placed 2nd with a 20:58.2, Asia VanDerWerff placed 4th with a time of 22:16.4, Kodi Timanus got 20th place with a 24:26.1 and Emily Grim 25th with a 26:45.4 for the Gregory team.

Gregory Spikers bring record to 9-5

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Spikers. The ladies have traveled to Wagner, Martin, Spencer, NE, and Bon Homme as well as hosted Wessington Springs. At the end of these competitions they are sitting with nine wins and five losses.

Cross Country has a busy week

The Gorilla Cross Country team participated in three meets over the last week. On Saturday, September 11, the runners participated in the Nike Preview at Sioux Falls. On Monday, September 13, they ran at the Wagner Invite at Pickstown, and Saturday, September 18, at the Lyman Invite at Presho.

University to receive $11 million for cold weather research

The SD School of Mines and Technology has been awarded an $11 million federal grant to develop better material and manufacturing technology to withstand cold weather. South Dakota Mines will partner with the U.S.

Gov. Kristi Noem to delay social studies standards

Governor Kristi Noem has directed the Department of Education to delay the process to consider revisions to the state’s social studies standards up to one year. She issued the following statement: “The Department of Education changed the working group’s recommendations to the social studies standards significantly, but it is clear to me that there needs to be more public input to bring greater balance and emphasis on our nation’s true and honest history.

Gorillas get rolled by Parkston Trojans, 50-0

The Parkston Trojans defeated Gregory 50-0 to drop the Gorillas record to 3-2. After winning 3 consecutive games, the Gorillas suffered their second loss on Saturday evening, September 18.
