Gorillas drop one, win two for the week

Gregory 58 North Central (NE) 44 The Gregory Gorillas opened up their 2022-23 campaign with a 58-44 victory before going to Christmas break. The game was tied 17-17 after one quarter and the Gorillas led 27-24 at halftime.
Storm places nine of nine at weekend tournament

With all nine varsity wrestlers placing in the top eight, the Burke/ Gregory Storm came away with a fifth place finish at the Miller/ Highmore/Harrold Invitational Tournament, held Saturday, January 7.
Legislators share their priorities as the 2023 session begins

The 2023 regular session of the South Dakota Legislature opened on Tuesday, January 10. The 70 representatives and 35 senators met in their respective chambers at noon and then gathered for a joint session at 1:00 p.m. to hear the governor’s State of the State address.
Gregory Lady Gorillas move to 2-0 on young season

The Lady Gorillas hosted North Central on December 20, 2023, in Gregory. Gregory posted quarter stops of 14, 22, 34, and 41, while North Central had stops of 9, 24, 26, and 40. The Lady Gorillas shot 16/48 from the field for 33% and 5 of 11 from the foul line for 45%. North Central shot 11 of 43 from the field for 26% and 14 of 22 from the foul line for 64%.
With only five varsity wrestlers, Burke/Gregory is competitive in Salem

In spite of missing several wrestlers to family events and sickness, the Burke/Gregory Storm team finished tenth at the MCM Invitational Tournament Saturday, December 31, in Salem, with only five varsity wrestlers.
New year, new storm

The New Year holiday was extended for many as Winter Storm Hudson moved into the area late Sunday night and continued to blanket the area with snow through Tuesday. South central South Dakota was the recipient of the storm’s heaviest snowfall as Hudson had dumped about 16 inches by Tuesday morning.

Judging by the number of pheasants stirred up from his fields during corn harvest, Craig Stehly was anticipating a bountiful hunting season. He attributes that to the weather, a good hatch this spring, and also to the green he sees in his fields growing amongst the brown corn stalks.

The Gregory Oral Interpretation Team has been busy the last two weeks. The team traveled to Murdo on Oct. 27 to compete in a tournament with nine pieces. On Nov. 4, the team traveled to Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma with seven pieces, to compete in districts. Both events were a success for the team.
