Every November, the United States observes National Adoption Month — a time to raise awareness about the urgent need for permanent families for children and youth in foster care, and to celebrate the love, resilience, and commitment of adoptive families across the country. While adoption can be an incredibly joyful experience, it’s also a journey that involves complex emotions, adjustment, and lifelong learning for everyone involved — the child, the adoptive parents, birth families, and their supporting family and friends.
