    Gov. Rhoden announces Nick Lamb as DOC secretary

    On October 20, 2025, Governor Larry Rhoden announced that Nick Lamb will serve as the new Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary. “After an extensive interview process and aggressive national search, we found the right person that will help keep our corrections system strong and safe for both inmates and officers,” said Governor Larry Rhoden.

    A n amendment to the Cons titution authorizing the State of South Dakota to engage in the development and distribution of electric power and to construct, own and operate hydro-electric plants was submitted by the legislature in 1917 to the voters. It was approved in the election of 1918 by a vote of 41,658 for and 24,429 against.

    Runners qualify for cross country state meet

    The Gregory boy’s team captured 3rd place as a team in the Region 3B meet held in Burke on October 15, 2025. The 3rd place finish qualified the Gregory team for the state meet in Huron on October 25.

    Gregory and Burke consider adding softball as sanctioned sport

    At the regular meeting of the Gregory School District Board of Education, held at noon, Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the board considered the possibility of adding softball as a sanctioned sport. The activities/cooperative committee of Amy Keiser and Cara Hull, along with Superintendent Sara Anderson and Activities Director Kurt Stukel met with parents who are interested in having a softball program run by the school district. It became a sanctioned sport with the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) as a spring sport during the 2021-22 school year.

    Cheer and dance team is top in hip hop at Platte

    The Gregory cheer and dance team competed in Platte on Saturday, October 18, 2025, their last competition before state. With comments from the judges like: “So fun! Great energy throughout!” “Loved it!” “Fun choreo!” and “Nice hip hop motions, attitude,” it is no surprise that the girls placed first in hip hop.
