    Increased public library usage shown by IMLS survey data

    The Institute of Museum and Library Services has released the latest data from its Public Libraries Survey (PLS). Each year since 1988, the PLS has provided a national census of America’s public libraries. The data are collected from approximately 9,000 public library systems comprised of over 17,000 individual main libraries, library branches, and bookmobiles in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

    Rhoden needs to clean up D.O.C. before prison vote

    On September 23, 2025, at a special legislative session, we will be asked to entrust $650 million to the Secretary of the Department of Corrections within the Rhoden Administration. We do not have trust in the leadership of Rhoden’s Department of Corrections. We are renewing the call for Governor Rhoden to clean up his Department of Corrections before the special session vote on the new prison in Sioux Falls.

    A Note From Cottonwood Corners

    Soldiers going back and forth on the Military road running to Fort Thompson and points farther upstream on the east side of the Missouri River contributed to the high volume of traffic along the river in the last half of the 1800s. Mule trains hauling supplies for the forts, ox teams with freight for mining camps and settlements, adventurers and home seekers, all added to the travel over this trail.

    Homecoming Week starts Monday

    Homecoming is just around the corner, and the Gregory School District has already been busy getting ready. Theme days build excitement Each day of Homecoming week has a different theme for students to follow when choosing their wardrobe, deviating from their standard school attire.
