A hometown salute to Lt. Colonel Eugene H. Boortz

On April 25, 2025, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Eugene H. Boortz, a proud son of Gregory, South Dakota, and veteran of the United States Air Force, embarked on a remarkable journey of remembrance and recognition. At 87 years old, Lt. Col. Boortz joined 88 fellow veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., where they visited the war memorials dedicated to those who served in the WW2, Korean, and Vietnam wars. They also had the opportunity to visit the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

Students attend safety fair at auditorium

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Gregory students in grades begindergarten through eighth attended a safety fair put on in partnership between the Gregory Police Department, Gregory County Sheriff Department, Avera Gregory Hospital, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Gregory County JV goes 1-2 last week

Gregory County JV 2 Winner/Colome 3 Both teams were strong on the hill on Monday, April 14, but the Winner/Colome Royals were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-2 victory over Gregory County JV. AJ Lutt started the game for Gregory and recorded 12 outs.

Gregory County varsity extends record to 3-3

Gregory County 1 Winner/Colome 13 The Gregory County baseball team couldn’t keep up with Winner/ Colome and fell 13-1 on Monday, April 14. Winner/Colome was first to get on the board in the first inning when Landon Calhoon grounded out, scoring one run.

Triple jump school record broken by Eklund

Gregory Invitational Thursday, April 10 The Gorillas hosted the Gregory Invitational Track Meet on April 10. The Gorillas had a good showing in front of their home crowd.

Golf season is underway

The Gregory High School varsity golf team headed to Fox Run in Yankton on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Weather conditions proved to be challenging with cooler temps and high winds. The two Gorilla golfers pushed through and shot well for the tough conditions and challenging course. Luke Stukel shot an 82 to place 14th, and Jhett Eklund finished the day with an 89.
