Dear Editor, Starting with the weather, worldwide, it was the warmest January ever, but it was unpredictable, up and down like a yoyo (remember them). 5 inches of snow in New Orleans (never before) tornado season started, and there are crows locally because many aren’t migrating anymore. This warmer changeable weather is also causing Many more flu and respiratory infections requiring hospitalization and there are also outbreaks of measles in this era of anti-vaxers.

Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail feasibility study upcoming

From Tuesday, March 4 through Thursday, March 6, 2025, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold eight public meeting open houses to share information and garner public input for the Tabor to Platte Rail to Trail Feasibility Study. Informational meetings will be held in Tabor, Tyndall, Avon, Dante, Wagner, Lake Andes, Geddes, and Platte.

Public notice of high-risk offender release

The South Dakota Department of Corrections is providing notification to law enforcement and the public about the pending release of state prison offender Dillon Harrington. Harrington, age 30, will be released from prison February 27, 2025, after serving the entirety of his sentence for possession of a controlled substance from Beadle County.
