Pick-Sloan Project has lessons we shouldn’t forget

Anyone who has been to one of the Gregory County Pumped Storage meetings has likely heard Pick-Sloan mentioned. Perhaps many wonder how that relates to this new project. Mostly, it is in regards to South Dakota bearing the brunt of a project that will benefit others.

Oxytocin is a hormone that is released during childbirth, and this hormone participates in the role of bonding mothers and infants. Oxytocin has been called the “love hormone”. It makes one feel relaxed, affectionate and selfless. It can aid in the intensity of the hours right before your little one enters the world and can help with what I like to call the “It was all worth it moment.” Incredibly sweet and well-meaning people look at your exhausted face and say, but it was all worth it right? The crazy thing is that in our oxytocin filled state, it does feel that way! But why doesn’t it stay that way?

Wixon completing threeweek rotation in Gregory

Chris Wixon is a second-year medical student, completing a 3-week rotation at Avera Medical Group Gregory. After finishing his pre-med degree at Mount Marty University in 2023, he went on to begin medical school at the University of South Dakota that fall.

Schools receive $260,000 in School Nutrition Program equipment

School systems across South Dakota have been granted more than $260,000 in School Nutrition Program equipment grants for new equipment or to renovate/replace existing equipment. “Food service professionals all over our state work hard every day to provide students delicious, healthy meals,” said Cheriee Watterson, the Department of Education’s director of Child and Adult Nutrition Services.

AG Jackley announces lawsuit on Biden Administration WOTUS rule

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says South Dakota has joined 23 other states in filing a lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s “Waters of the United States” rules. “This is a federal government attempt to exceed its authority granted by Congress as provided in the Clean Water Act,” said Attorney General Jackley.

Temperatures rise as talks continue over Chamber director position

The house was full Monday evening as the Gregory City Council’s regular meeting was called to order. The Chamber of Commerce board of directors was in attendance to present their proposal for funding a new executive director.
