Dan Jons is the 2025 Mark Mehlhaf Comeback Player of the Year. The Burke Bomber made his second comeback to amateur baseball after suffering a complete distal bicep tendon tear in just his third game playing for the Pony Hills member in 2024.

Bombers headed to state tournament

The Burke Bombers faced the Kimball/White Lake Nationals in the District 3B/Pony Hills League championship game on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Chamberlain, SD and came up short in a 1-8 loss. The Nationals jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Caden Lenz drew a walk, scoring one run, Keaton Christensen singled, scoring one run, and Cooper Leiferman singled, scoring two runs.

After big first win, Gregory Legion team comes up short in region tournament

Gregory 19 - Chamberlain 4 Gregory Legion Post 6 won big over Chamberlain, 19-4, in the first round of the Region 7 Legion Baseball Tournament, held in Gregory, July 22-24, 2025. Gregory got on the board in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, another error scored two runs, Lincoln Juracek drew a walk, scoring one run, Jackson Bolander singled, scoring two runs, and yet another error scored one run.

Bombers to play for district championship, will play in state tournament

Burke Bombers 6 Wessington Springs Owls 5 The Burke Bombers defeated the Wessington Springs Owls 6-5 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the first round of the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association’s District 3 tournament in Colome. The Bombers were down 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Aaron Sundquist homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Gregory Teeners 17U claim 2nd place in state tournament with heart-breaking finish

Gregory 7 - Mobridge 0 The Gregory Teeners 17U scored four runs in the fourth inning, which helped them defeat the Mobridge Crusaders 7-0 on Friday, July 25, 2025, in their first game of the South Dakota VFW 17B State Baseball Tournament in Gregory. Cash Hemming singled, scoring one run, Colt Keiser was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Landon Keiser doubled, scoring two runs.

Area youth compete in Sacred Hoops basketball program

Area youth have been given the opportunity to participate in the Sacred Hoops Basketball program. Sacred Hoops is an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) program open to middle and high school students to play on regional travel teams and participate in competitive tournaments.
