The Gorillas started a busy week in O'Neill (NE) on Monday as they fell to the St. Mary's Cardinals 5053.

A group of South Dakota lawmakers pushed forward an initiative on Monday, January 23, that offers an optional social studies curriculum for K-12 and university students rooted in “American exceptionalism’’ and the founding ideals of the U.S.

The Lady Gorillas basketball team went 2-1 in the last week of play. On Tuesday, January 24, the girls visited Stanley County, topping them by a final score of 71-49.

Following the leak of Governor Kristi Noem and her family’s personal Social Security numbers and other private information by the January 6th Committee, Governor Noem’s personal cell phone number has been hacked and used to make hoax calls. Governor Noem had no involvement in these calls.

The Gregory Youth Wrestling Tournament was held Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium. The tournament hosted 242 wrestlers from 24 different wrestling clubs.

The Gregory Gorillas played Hanson in the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace on Saturday, and the Beavers dealt the Gorillas their second loss of the year by a score of 50-38. The Gorillas never had a lead the entire game, as Hanson scored first and led at all quarter breaks.

Gregory hosted Chamberlain on January 17th. Quarter scores show Gregory with 6, 26, 33 and 54, while Chamberlain had stops of 6, 19, 38 and 53.

The Burke/Gregory Storm wrestlers had two meets last week - a triangular hosted by Lyman and the Winner Invitational Tournament. The Storm won both of their duals at the Lyman triangular, beating Lyman 51-21 and Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington 38-34.

The South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors tried to side-step a scheduling nightmare Wednesday while allowing a football cooperative to switch from 11-man football to nine-man.
