Fairfax raised the largest flag in SD

Community members gathered Friday, May 22, at Koenig Lumber in Fairfax for the raising of what is now the largest flag in South Dakota. The massive hand-sewn nylon American flag measures 40 by 80 feet—large enough to cover an entire high school basketball court—and flies from a 140-foot pole. Both the flag and pole were manufactured in Dallas, Texas.

87 area youth attend football camp

Youth from Gregory and Colome didn’t have any time to slack off from their school schedule before Gregory Head Football Coach John King hosted the 22nd annual youth football camp. Approximately 87 youth from Gregory and Colome attended the two-day camp, working on football fundamentals, drills, and skills.

The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, June 2, and while many races will be on the ballot, the only race Democrats will be able to cast a vote for is the mayoral race in Gregory. All the remaining races are between Republican candidates.

Last Chance Meet qualifies more Gorillas for state

The Gregory Gorilla track and field team competed in the Last Chance Meet in Avon on Thursday, May 21. This was the last scheduled meet of the regular season and the last chance for athletes to qualify to the top 24 for the state track meet, which will be held at Howard Field in Sioux Falls May 28-30.
