School receives unexpected money for kitchen remodel

The Gregory School District Board of Education convened for their regular meeting at 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024. In the Gorilla Good News portion of the meeting, Head Cook Suzanne Braun reported on the kitchen remodel.

District 21 races end in close calls

The primary election held on June 4 yielded some narrow victories as well as an unsurprising runaway decision. In the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, Joe Biden was the undisputed winner, garnering 75% of the votes cast by South Dakotans over his three rivals.

Yoder variance makes a return appearance at commissioner meeting

During the regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners, held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024,the commissioners convened as a board of adjustment to review a variance request from Joseph Yoder. Commissioner Byrain Boes questioned the legality of resubmitting a variance request for a property previously denied if nothing on the application had changed. States Attorney Amy Bartling-Jacobsen was consulted and stated that the zoning ordinance does not give a time limit for resubmitting a variance request.

Bonnie Johnson hosts guests over weekend

Weekend guests in the Bonnie Johnson home were daughter Terri Frank of Beresford, and granddaughter Jaime Serghini and great-granddaughters Aisha and Amani Serghini, all from Houston, TX. Also visiting was Jerry Frank (Dad and Grandpa) from Spearfish. They also visited Grandma Iola Frank in Burke.

Nelson named to the Dean’s List

Nicolaus Nelson of Bonesteel, SD, was named to the University of Sioux Falls Spring 2024 Dean’s List. Nelson is majoring in Business Administration.

SDSU announces spring Dean’s List

More than 3,300 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance over the spring 2024 semester at South Dakota State University by being named to the dean's list. To earn dean's list distinctions in SDSU's colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Jim Larkin Memorial Scholarship Recipients announced
