Cerny retires from City Finance Officer/City Manager position

Al Cerny graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in economics in 1974, a time when the country was in a depression, and he was grateful for whatever job he could find, but that didn’t make him a stable employee. He worked in management for K-Mart Corporation for a few years before trying his hand at selling insurance, working at a hardware store, toying with the idea of purchasing a Ben Franklin store, and working at Pamida.

Highway 44 Platte-Winner Bridge Project update: Design studies are underway

Engineering design is underway for the proposed Highway 44 Platte- Winner Bridge over the Missouri River. The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) design team is in the process of developing designs for the new bridge and associated new roadway alignment on either side of the river. Starting in May 2021, this design process has included the collection of geologic information about the new alignment. In order to collect information in the river, SDDOT contracted with a barge company to provide access for our drilling equipment on the water. That work on the river was completed in June.

Fourth of July line-up has lots planned

Gregory, SD, is always the place to be for the July 4th holiday, and this year is bigger and better than ever. The action begins on Thursday, July 1 with a used book sale at the Gregory Public Library from noon until 5:00 p.m.
