In many cultural pockets of different communities or families, expressions of deep or difficult emotions, like grief, fear, anger, or vulnerability have often been perceived as negative, perhaps been misunderstood or even discouraged. While the intent may have been to promote strength, peace, or resilience, this emotional restraint can sometimes lead to disconnection, pain, and a hesitation or reluctance to be our full selves with others.
