Readers of the September 15, 1905 edition of The Mitchell Capital were greeted with this headline on page one: “ADOPT NEW METHOD TO CAPTURE THIEVES – The Prevalence of Rustlers in South Dakota Arouses the Settlers.”

    The Craguns are returning to Prairie View Gospel Barn

    The Craguns are coming back to Gregory for their third appearance at Prairie View Gospel Barn at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2025. The Craguns are a dynamic, family group, comprised of husband and wife, Jordan and Elena Cragun, Ray Cragun (Jordan’s Father) and Savannah Cragun (Jordan’s Sister).

    Commissioners propose eliminating minimum lot requirement

    The Gregory County Planning And Zoning Board reached an impasse on changing the minimum lot size to build a dwelling in an ag district in Gregory County. Faced with a widening division between members of the board, they consulted Brian McGinnis of Planning and Development District III, who advised that the next step was to refer the matter to the county Board of Commissioners to make the decision.

    TMK Landworks provides an answer to land cleanup needs

    TMK Landworks is a relatively new business to the Gregory area. Earlier this year, Tony Weborg launched his business as an answer to land reclamation and clean-up needs in the area. With two of the largest skid loaders on the market and attachments such as an M&M tree shear, a Fecon drum mulcher, a Diamond disc mulcher, and a grapple attachment, TMK Landworks is outfitted to handle jobs like cedar and brush overgrowth, forestry mulching, land and lot clearing, pasture reclamation from cedars and brush overgrowth, fence-line mulching, dirt work, and shelter belt clean-outs.

    Welcome home celebration planned for SAL Detachment Commander Wyatt Reis

    Almost five years ago, the American Legion Hutchison Post in Gregory explored the idea of starting a Sons of the American Legion (SAL) squadron. Now, with about 90 members, that squadron is in the top five in the state. Even more impressive, one of those members, Wyatt Reis, has recently been elected Detachment Commander for the State of South Dakota.
