The Burke Bombers faced the Kimball/White Lake Nationals in the District 3B/Pony Hills League championship game on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Chamberlain, SD and came up short in a 1-8 loss. The Nationals jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Caden Lenz drew a walk, scoring one run, Keaton Christensen singled, scoring one run, and Cooper Leiferman singled, scoring two runs.

The rumble of motorcycles fills South Dakota highways, and communities across the state are ready to greet rally-goers with open arms. Travel South Dakota’s Rally Rush initiative is back for a second year, celebrating the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally from August 1–10, 2025, and the tradition of motorcycling in The Mount Rushmore State.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will provide daily traffic counts at nine locations for vehicles entering Sturgis for the 85th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally which runs from Aug. 1-10, 2025. The traffic counts to date for the nine locations entering Sturgis for the 2025 Rally are as follows: Friday, Aug. 1, 2025: 56,000 vehicles entered — Up 8.2% from the previous five-year average Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025: 62,500 vehicles entered — Up 12.5% from the previous five-year average Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025: 60,495 vehicles entered — Up 2.4% from the previous five-year average 2025 Total to Date (3-days): 178,995 Vehicles (Up 7.6%) Previous Five-Year Average (2020-2024) 3-day total to date: 166,393 Vehicles Once compiled, a full report (including traffic counts across the greater Black Hills area) will be available on the SDDOT website at https://dot.sd.gov/transportation/ highways/traffic-data/ during the week of Aug. 18, 2025.

Gregory County 4-H celebrated its 2025 Achievement Days from Thursday, July 24th to Saturday, July 26th, 2025 held at the Burke Rodeo Arena and Burke Civic Center. The event kicked off on Thursday with the companion animals show (featuring guinea pigs and cats), the rabbit show, and the poultry show. With over 50 poultry entries, it was a remarkable display of various breeds. The evening wrapped up with livestock judging (sponsored by the Miner family in memory of Kris and Jerome Miner, and in honor of Gordon Miner) and exhibit judging.
