Seeking nominations for SD Specialty Crop Producer of the Year

The South Dakota Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) is seeking nominations for the 2024 South Dakota Specialty Crop Producer of the Year Award. Producers, customers, and community members are invited to nominate a farmer who has made a significant contribution to specialty crop production in the state. Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, honey, and nursery crops, including floriculture.

Commissioners reconsider a couple prior decisions

Michael Preslicka’s fence was again on the agenda as the Gregory County Board of Commissioners convened at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 20. At a previous meeting, the commissioners had decided to take no action, despite being informed the county would be liable if the fence caused any kind of accident. At the suggestion of the state’s attorney, the commissioners agreed to revisit the matter.
