Klein throws a no-hitter in Majors’ win against Lyman

Jacob Klein was brilliant on the mound on Friday, June 16, throwing a no-hitter to lead the Gregory Majors past the Lyman Majors 14-0. Gregory opened up scoring in the first inning when Otto Reber drove in one run on a double.

Muddy Creek ProRodeo back in town for the Burke Stampede Rodeo

It was Chancy Wilson who planted the seed of encouragement for the Burke Stampede Rodeo to go PRO. He recognized that our rodeo had been doing everything professionally except inviting the cowboys and cowgirls of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and the WPRA (Women’s Professional Rodeo Association) to compete on our arena floor. Chancy had been providing stock for our amateur rodeo for several years. The Burke Stampede Committee took his advice to heart, and for the first time in our 32 year history, the Burke Stampede was sanctioned by Professional Rodeo in 2021. It was all we had hoped for and dreamed of and more. And this year, Chancy and crew, known as Muddy Creek Pro-Rodeo, will be back to help us continue the legend that is the Burke Stampede Rodeo.

Young named to University of Iowa dean’s list for 2023 spring semester

Ashlyn Young of Burke, SD, was among the more than 7,100 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa named to the dean’s list for the 2023 spring semester. Young is an undergraduate fourth-year student in Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, and is majoring in business analytics and information systems..
